Frequently Asked Questions

The system of Ashtanga yoga under the lineage of Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar came to be known as “Iyengar yoga” by his followers around the world. Guruji devoted his life to the evolution of his yoga approach, based on the traditional eight limbs of yoga, which were taught over 2,500 years ago by the sage Patanjali. Guruji believed that yoga goes beyond a physical discipline; it is also an art, a science, and a philosophy, and he developed his method with this in mind. It emphasizes precision, alignment, and mindful use of props to make yoga accessible to everyone—regardless of age, body type, or experience.
